Here's how much the most popular YouTubers earned this year

WHILE IT MAY remain unfathomable for some people, with the right number of fans and enough popularity, it can really pay to be a YouTuber.

Newly compiled data shows just how much that popularity can pay off in terms of money earned.

Forbes has listed the top 10 YouTube earners, who among them have racked up tens of millions of dollars in revenue.

Top of the list for the second year in a row is Swedish Vlogger PewDiePie, who gives voiceovers to him playing videogames.

The gamer earned €15 (€14.2 million) million in the 12 months to June of this year through his close to 50 million subscribers. He also released a parody self-help book This Book Loves you which cold well.

Second on the list is American comedian and prankster Roman Atwood, who earned €8 million (€7.5 million) with his 10.1 million subscribers.

Third on the list is the highest earning woman Lilly Singh. The Canadian rapper and comedian earned €7.5 million (€7 million) to the year in June.

Video streaming site YouTube – founded in 2005 by PayPal employees and purchased by Google in 2006 – is hugely popular around the world.

Latest stats show that 3.25 billion hours of video have been watched since it was founded.
